hold button

what does this thing do cause i just noticed it today when i was driving and i pressed it but i couldnt notice a difference i was going really slow at the time though

Press the hold button and drop the selector down in to first. it will stay there untill u move it into 2nd... same with 3rd... and to get to 4th gear (overdrive) all u do is tur noff the hold button while its in the D3 selector. =o) its good for going slow up really steep hills etc. it basically takes whatever gear u selected and holds it there

Its more of a traction control really. <BR>Put it on when driving under 40MPH, no higher! It changes your shifting patterns to help accomidate for slippery areas as well as helping slow you down going down a hill.

why not over 40? i use it to drive like stick i put it in 1 hold off then shirt to 2 then three then press it! that way i control all 4 gears. i never let the rpms pass 3500 thou

Beware of the Hold button, it has mysterious powers! Barry I believe it's more like an overdrive yes/no? And if you're gonna race with it, ex press hold shift up 1-2-D- release hold, make sure it's worth it, it puts alot of strain on a fragile tranny. Everybody has their different uses for it, I suggest you don't [img]shrug.gif"%20border="0[/img]

so the race thing aint good? i figured it aint but like i said i dont do it over 3500rpm's

its completely incompetent to use the hold button in that fashion. You DO NOT have a tiptronic transmission and there's no point in shifting @3500 when your power is 1000rpms higher. You're doing absolutely nothing but killing your transmission.<P>The hold button changes your shift points so that the car can get to the selected gear at the earliest available speed. As barry said it helps with traction. The only time i used my hold button was driving a twisty 45 mph road going to work daily and it was certainly better for the tranny than all the down/upshifting that would be done otherwise. While overdrive is similar, it doesnt change your shift points like the HOLD button does (overdrive is what i have now :D
