Automatic Transmission Power Delay?

Hey all, Ive got an automatic 94 GX V6 and in the past week or so Ive noticed an issue with the gearing.
It started with the first 3000rpm of first gear not transferring power to the wheels as swiftly as I was accustomed to. The engine revved as usual, but the car hesitated before moving up the power band.
The went on until I checked the fluid level and discovered it was low. I added about 500mL of fluid to the transaxle and the problem went away for a few days.
Now the problem has returned as before only now the gear changes between 1st and 2nd, and 2nd and 3rd are exhibiting the same kind of delay noticed at the front of first gear.
A friend of mine suggested this may be the torque converter, but I figured someone on here had to have run into the same problem. Any advice?

sounds like the torque converter to me. Double check- take it to transmission specialist.
Good Luck :D

Mine has been kind of doing this lately too.
When accelerating it kind of feels like over a second or two there is a slight loss of power but then a second or two later it will kick in and go faster like it should.
It's been doing this kind of off and on for the past year and I have done about 20,000km since the symptons first started happening and the problem doesn't seem to be getting worse so I am not entirely sure if it is the torque converter.
However I probably should change my tranny oil soon.

it's the torque converter. trust me. the torque converter slips for a few reasons....the main reason is abusive driving such as shifting to drive from reverse without braking which causes a burnout and for the torque converter gears and edges to grind up, which makes it slip. actually, that's the MAIN reason. well just get a new standard oem torque converter for around 200-400.
