Stolen

Post by RTT »

Well it happened.....every car owner's worst fear and concern! Today while at school in Toronto some fuken ******* decided it was a great day to go to the GO Transit parking lot to go shopping. Well he got a full basket worth of goods, from my car alone, not to mention the other 3 cars they smashed up in the process.
As for me tho...i now have nothing... no deck, no amp, and no speaker...i havent even had them for a full year yet..must've been a good system cuz they took it all!

Well i guess this is just a reminder for everyone to watch were u park cuz ur not safe anywere. And as for the person who took it, i hope that u have a great sleep tonite knowing that u just made urself a few hundred bucks while leaving urself a death wise. I hope i find u and i hope i dont find u and u'll know why if it happens!!!

Its a known fact you never park in the GO parking lots.... they even did a news article on how bad the security is in those lots. To top it all off they have the famous policy of all parking lots "we are not responsible for theft or damage while your car is parked here" and being an open lot like that makes it an even better target for theives

It was my understanding that the parking lot had surveilance b/c other ones along that route do however GO transit's idea of surveilance covers only the ticket booth..i kno for next time...

And yes if i do find them i will call u up and we'll both get some batting practise in! Everyone is welcome....i fuken hate these people more than anything

Now here's some food for thought.. I was reading in one of my textbooks that those signs are a bunch of BS.. Apparently shopping malls and the like ARE responsible for damaged cars, etc in Canada. Interesting, eh? It's this thing called Duty of Care. The owners have an obligation to make every effort to ensure that their patrons and their belongings are, well, cared for while on the premesis. Let me double check on this. Heheh.. you might be able to sue the city for the value of the damage lol

Your probably right with that, but unfortunately it comes down to whether or not its worth it; and in most cases, its not. To sue, you gotta appear in court, and that means its gonna cost you money. Don't think one court appearance is enough, they will probably differ the case several times before anyhting happens. In the end, what you get out of it is enough to buy Mcdonalds if your lucky.

My brother in law had his Honda Accord stolen from the Go parking also. Funny part is, it was a 1991. The dam car was over 10 years old :freak:

That sucks.. Look at the good side though, at least you still got your wheels. Nothing worse than losing the lot and finding it 2 weeks later burnt out.

You got an alarm or anything?

Hey not your fault! If its the same there as here with the cops, it is bound to happen though cause when they catch aholes like this they just slap em on the wrist and let em go.

I know how you feel though, its the most frustrating feeling in the world. Keep in mind the old saying "you don't normally get what you want, you normally get what you deserve". It will end up true for these guys some day.

doesnt matter those signs posted at the parking lots act as contracts. Thats how they get around that. They basically say "by parking in our parking lot you hereby dismiss any liability on the companys part"

Also if you pay at a pay parking lot but if you were to look on the back of the ticket it says the same thing. so the fact is unless you catch them it isnt their fault. Sorry for the loss but just a warning that people like this prey on the GO lots so think again about parking there.

That may be true, I've noticed some malls are more diligant than others when it comes to protecting car from break ins. I know Sherway mall near where I live they always have mall security circling around checking stuff out. Even in the night when there is like nobody around they are still circling around 24/7

But other malls like Square 1 I would be more affraid, although there is security i don't think there is enough, too busy there all the time.
