Vehicles are broken down into insurance rating groups (IRGs). A vehicles IRG is developed by taking the replacement cost of the veh, theft ratio, comprehensive claim ratio, veh safety rating. Once an IRG is composed, insurance premium is calculated by figuring in age, driving history, driving record, weekly/yearly mileage. These figures are computed and thats your premium
;) . The IRG for a 1994 mx-3 GS is 19, which is comparative to the 6cyl mustang, eclipse rs, and cavalier z24 of 2002. The 2002 honda civic ex is rated a 21 because of the safety features added. a 1994 civ EX is rated 23, which is equivalent to the mustang GT. Its rated so high because of its theft and comprehensive claim rate.
ah the joys of bein an insurance agent ;)

My insurance company considers my 1993 mx-3 a compact car, which makes the insurance a whole lot cheaper.

My ins considers my car a sports car. Before I was 25 I paid 383 every 3 months. After I was 25, it went down to 363 every 6 months. My GS is 120 every 6 months for liability (roughy~20 a month). Thats the rate for a single male with a perfect record.

(Major urban area=screwed)
And, I venture to say that if you pay $60 a month for full coverage, it's not very good coverage. Bare legal minimum insurance and huge deductables are sometimes more of a ripoff than higher priced policies.
Also, if you live with your parents, you benefit from that and possibly from being a student as well.

yes, they are slightly higher, due to the cost of replacement is higher as well as the v6 engine boosts it up a bit more.
