Well, I don't think today is going to be a good day.

I was driving up the Deerfoot Trail Freeway just before 16th Ave NE when a car just slightly ahead of me decided to change into my lane. I swirved to miss the car and my rear end clipped the front bumper of a dump truck. That slingshot my MX-3 in front of him and he T-Boned me and launched my car into the other lane. I spun around 360 Degrees and hit another dump truck. After the final hit my car turned facing the right direction and I pulled over to the side. I didn't do too much damage to the dump trucks. I just tore up the bumper of one of them. My car's passenger door is quite crushed and the rear end is torn up. It's a good thing those cars have a solid frame. I'm hurting a little bit and still shooken up but I'm okay. I'll upload some pictures if I get a chance.

Yeah I should be very thankful that I'm okay. It's not everyday that someone gets T-Boned by two dump trucks at 100km/h and manages to walk away from it.

Here's a bad drawing of what happened:
<img src="http://www.wyldsidetech.com/images/carcrash.gif" alt=" - " />
6:20am Speed limit 100km/h. Driving about 95km/h (flow of Traffic speed)

1. Guy cuts me off and forces me to swerve.

2. I clip the Dump Truck's Front bumper and hook it with mine.

3. Then that lauches me ahead and sideways.

4. The same dump truck plows into me again

5. I do a 360 and end up in the next lane in front of another dump truck.

6. I get T- Boned again by the second Dump Truck.

(By the way, Justin, your rims are okay. I'll change them off once the insurance is done with the car.)

I've got a chiropractor appointment tomorrow because my back and arms are beginning to hurt a bit. Just going to get checked out just to be on the safe side. I don't need to be all crippled when I get older.

Man, that's two now within a few days. Starting to wonder if I should just keep biking to work for the next little while.

Hopefully the car that cut you off gets justice.

It's gotta be the hardest thing to learn, but we have to remember, that if someone's gonna cut you off, 99% of the time you're better off to just let them run into you.

Very sorry to hear that James.
Get Better!

sorry to hear that. Glad u r ok. A similar situation happened to me in dec 02. Mx-3's are damn strong. Calgary is full of idiots and especially on deerfoot. I use that road every morning and have been cut off numerous times.
R u gonna get the blame 4 it?

Through all the connections I have in the insurance industry, they all suggest I will get the full blame. If I claim the accident my insurance will triple or quadrouple (Got to love Alberta Insurance). I will most likely tell them I will cover all the repairs to both the dump trucks and repair my car myself. If they write off the car then I will either part it out or work hard to repair it and get it recertified. I'll have to see what the outcome is.

That really hurts. Too bad the car that cut you off will get off. Hopefully they will not. Some people do not know how to drive. I hope that you will be ok and that your body did not take too much beating. Two dump trucks at 100kph, that is hard. I am surprised that you are ok. Hope the car did not get a frame damage. If it is written off, may be you can pick up one of the KL-ZE'd Mx's that some of the US guys are selling. Keep us updated.

I know of a blaze red gs in a junk yard in calgary and the last i saw of it the whole body was intact and the paint was awesome. If u need a new door u could grab one of there. If the dump trucks have minor damage pay for it and then u can repair your car for cheap by getting parts from a salvaged car. Maybe even talk to the dump truck company and explain what happened. They may beable to help u out. Good luck.

Stuff on dump-trucks tends to be built very strong and made to take a beating.

on the other hand it's harder to fix because it's so beefy.. can't just pull out the dents and slap some bondo on.. so if repairs are needed it might end up costing a bit.

Key point of your ability to defend your actions.. did the first DT driver see the guy cut you off? If you have a witness it might make a difference. otherwise yer probably screwed.

Yeah I think if someone's cutting you off your best choice of actions (unless you are 100% sure what's in the lane to the other side) is to hit the brakes (and horn if you're able).. if you get rear-ended it will be the fault of the fellow following you, for following too closely or not paying attention..

Man, when it comes to surviving a crash, the MX-3 must be like the volvo of japanese sports cars..

Oh, just told my wife what happened.. her comment? "boy, you could sure say that poor guy really got Dumped On" :(

Unfortunately the 1st DumpTruck was too far ahead to see anything in his line of site. Also, he is quite a bit above the road and didn't see my car until it sling-shot off his frontend and ended up in his direct path. I'm 90% sure I'm going to get screwed out of all of this. I don't remember the full extent of their damages but it only looked like front bumper damage and lots of red paint on their tires.

I'm not sure if I can repair this body damage on the car or not. If it was just the passenger door, then fine, but it's also a good section of the rear paneling and the hatch is bent. The rear bumper isn't a big deal and neither are the tailights. I'm going to try to get the car back today.
