Does anyone know if the ABS sensors (left front one specificall) in an MX-3 GS is interchangeable with any other vehicle?
The wreckers NEVER seem to have any MX-3's, and the new part from Mazda is INSANELY expensive - about four times what an ABS sensor for most cars costs.
I was thinking maybe Escort GT (if I can find one that had ABS - very rare), Protege, MX-6 or Probe.
In lieu of a "suitable donor", does anyone have a left front ABS sensor to sell?
Thanks in advance!
ABS question (and part needed)
Re: ABS question (and part needed)
Really? I went to Ralph's scott road used japanese auto parts in richmond and they had about 4 MX-3s (mostly 92s and 93s). They might have the part you are looking for. Give them a call.
Other than that, have you tried calling a mazda dealership and seeing what they will charge for the part? Sometimes [rarely] it isn't much more... and if you call they they could tell you if the part was used on other cars like the MX-6, the MX-5, or the Protoge 5 (all of which use similar parts for a lot of systems).

Re: ABS question (and part needed)
Except Mazda likes to change part numbers for the same part used in a different model.
Re: ABS question (and part needed)
Oh yeah, there is that XD
Re: ABS question (and part needed)
Mazda apparently wants around $300+ for the part. Seems a little INSANE to me...
Taras, that is one of the big frustrations in dealing with Mazda. Very often, for the same identical damn part, there are three different prices (with different part #'s of course) depending on which model you drive! I pity those driving RX-7 TT's...or is that envy? Yeah, it's envy. Damn.
I'll try calling Ralph's in Richmond.
Thanks, guys!

TRy cross-referencing part #'s at your dealer with Mx-6/626 and Protege of similar vintage or newer. Otherwise to a junkyard you go. Good luck.
