Indiglo Guages question
Indiglo Guages question

Re: Indiglo Guages question
uummmmm, that didn't really answer my question.
I already got the guages from speedhut.com.
But before I install them, I'm wondering if I'm going to have to sand down the needles in order to make those fit properly.

Re: Indiglo Guages question
Ooops, I wasn't quite awake when I read that.
I'm still waiting for mine to come in so I don't know for sure. It probably wouldn't hurt to sand them. The more smooth of a surface the better. Let me know how the install goes!
[ November 14, 2002: Message edited by: WyldSide ]

Re: Indiglo Guages question
Well, speak of the devil. The package just arrived today. According to the instructions, it doesn't say anything about sanding. I'm going to try and install it to see how it fits. I'm sure there will be enough clearance for the needles.
[ November 14, 2002: Message edited by: WyldSide ]

Re: Indiglo Guages question
No need to sand the needles. The holes on the indiglos should be big enough for the needles to slip right through. I installed Brian's indiglos without any problem. It's the temp and fuel gauge that's a little tricky. LMK if you need any help.
Re: Indiglo Guages question
I can't even get the guages to fit over the needle!!!
crap
help!!!

Re: Indiglo Guages question
I'd try it out myself but in the next few days I'm going to be too busy.
Remember that you'll need to bend the dial lightly for it to fit over the needles. Be careful not to bend it too much. I'd totally give you a hand if I wasn't so far away. It'd be sweet if Kevin could give you a hand. I don't think he wants to drive all the way down here to help me though...hee hee.
[ November 14, 2002: Message edited by: WyldSide ]

Re: Indiglo Guages question
You're welcome, even though I didn't do anything.

Before there was indiglos, there were regular coloured gauge faces. In order to install them, you had to pull the needles off . You might have read an old post on how to install the regular gauge face.
Dremel tool? You don't need it, no cutting or shaving involved.
I've got to get me a set now.
[ November 15, 2002: Message edited by: MX-West Car Club ]

Re: Indiglo Guages question
That awesome that you got them on. What type did you get? I got the reverse indiglow blue with the Swiss font. It also says MX-3 on them.
What type were you planning to get Kevin?

Re: Indiglo Guages question
I had to make a small modification to the rpm guage (which I'm not proud of), but other than that, it went ok
I thought you didn't need to take off the needles???
If I could, I should have, b/c the backing of the OEM guage just makes it so thick.

quote:
What type were you planning to get Kevin?

I still debating regular indiglo or reverse. I like the reverse ones better because remember I painted the instrument cluster panel white and I want to keep that. But if I get the regular indiglos I have an extra cluster panel kicking around and can change it at anytime.

quote:
I thought you didn't need to take off the needles???

As far as I know, it's the non-indiglo gauge faces that CS sells that you have to pull the needles. Turst me you don't want to pull the needles, you'll need a function generator to recalibrate them or the cheaper way - external tach.
