As some of you may or may not know, besides being an MX-3 enthusiasts, I'm also a budding 3D Animator/modeller, which means that a frequent the bulletin board at www.cgtalk.com as well. I was searching through some of the posts yesterday and came across a 3D model of a Mazda that resembled the MX-3 a bit and even had the name of MX-3. It turns out the guy who modelled it based it off the original mx-3, lives in germany and owns an MX-3 himself, and knows about this site. :2thumbsup: I thought I would post a link to the model on here for anyone who's intersted.

click here to see the model

I like how the car looks (specially the tannish one), but I don't see too many elements from the mx3 in it. Maybe it's just me.

If Mazda rolled out with it on the lots, I'd be all over it!

Awesome Job for You Sam... Cant wait to see it finished!

Mike-- I appreciate your skillz-- but I dont think that is an MX-3. That looks like a BAD mix of an S2000, a Peugeot, a POntiac Bonneville, and an Acura TSX.

My guess is that you were designing an Acura Roadster (S2000 equivalent) and decided to slap a top on it.

It really looks like an after thought. Not very MX-3ish at all. I really dont see ANY Mazda in that at all. The grill is more Acura than Mazda.

If you had said that is was an Acura Roadster or something I would agree-- but dont call it a Mazda and especially not an MX-3.

Sorry man-- just my opinion. Nice rendering and artwork though. You definately have some talent.

well.. heres what i see the mix as:

body of an MX5, hatch of an MX3, and the headlights of a Mazda 6. then somehow fit together to look kinda like an acura.

lol but damn its sick lookin! drool drool i like the detail and the rims and everything.. but yea it doesnt look much like something mazda would make.

*comment: doesn't look like a mx-3 but its amazing, I love it. The only think im not crazy about is the front is a bit tooo wide for my taste. But it looks real! Im blown away!

How do they do this????
Is it a hbby or a career. How difficult is it to lear to do this andhow long does it take to create a project like this?

Well, right now it's a hobby, but I want to turn it into a career. I started probably when I was like 13-14 (I'm now 20)....I pretty much just bought some books, got a cheap 3D package (Truespace) and started messing around. Browse around www.cgtalk.com, you'll find a lot of inspiration there, as well as help and tutorials on how to create things with different software packages. :)

I am a certified maya 3d artist (mostly modeler), and also doing compositing, tracking and more.

Its a fun career, I work freelance, so its contract by contract. Did a few jobs for GM canada and other companies.

Very good pay!
