Brakes

I got new pads and rotors for my front brakes because the pedal felt really soft and they were grinding .. so I thought ok need new brakes..

Put them in.. and now the pedal is still just as soft and they're grinding, maybe more than before. I think they were installed correctly.. I did them with a friend who has done brakes before. We did not bleed the brakes. I heard that maybe if I pump the pedal while the car's off it could help, but it didn't.

Any ideas of what could be wrong or what I should do? Thanks.

i've never done them before, everyone tells me they're a pain. if I bleed them and it doesn't help, I might do the drums..
