hi everyone,
ok im pretty new with this, so please bear with me. i was wondering what the maximum tire width i can put on my mx-3? currently i have the stock 1994 RS rim + wheel cover. my current tires are 175/75/14. i was told be a friend that also has an mx-3 was that 175 was the widest they could fit on my car without rubbing up against my wheel well during turns.

what is the widest tires youve had on your mx-3 without any rubbing while turning? also, what would be the widest tires i could get onto a stock 1994-1996 GS 15" alloy rim? thanks!

OK Im not sure about the widest one can fit with out using spacers but the GS come with 205/55/15s Ive been told that you can go up one or even two width sizes before your rim size needs to be upgraded. so if this beeing accurate one could slide on a 215 possible 225.

i've got the stck 92gs 205 55 15 and threw on
205 60 15 cuz they were cheaper. I know that those will allow for 205 50 15 (pricey) but not sure of wider still.

I have 215 35 18 and I had to use spacers in the rear only. I have 18 Rota Subzeros. they have kinda a fat lip

From the MX-3.com Specs Page...

Tires:
All-season P185/65 R14 85S (RS), P205/55 R15 87V (GS)

So you could certainly get a 185 on your stock 14s, and probably a 195. I've had 215s on my 15" stock wheels, and I believe others have had 225s.

I don't know what you mean, but the only thing that would be thrown off by a taller tire will be the speedometer.

That's not correct. It makes the speedometer reading off by about 2mph. But there would be no problem with the ecu. You have 205/40 17's on your car correct? Is your computer screwed up? Your speedometer is definetely off by at least a mph. My snow tires are 195/60 15's. Never had a problem.
