2.5-3" drop?

Post by aggressivemx »

are there any springs that will give me a 2.5 to a 3" drop on stock sruts, 1.3 isnt nearly enough neither is 1.7.

I hope you are not serious about this?
3" drop on stock struts is just plain stupid (no offence).

The ride would be crap, your struts would blow, you might crash due to the struts not having enough way to compress etc... don`t do it..
If you are serious about dropping it very much, get some good shocks, like Koni or Mazdaspeed, and get som Ground Control Coilovers...
You`d atleast get 2" drop, maybe more.
Another thing you would definetely need, is some decent camberbolts or maybe even the Cusco Camber plate. Otherwise you`d destroy your CV joints and
just about everything else that depends on a certain camber value.. Tires would get eaten up VERY quick.

ProtegeSTS, hope you can explain it to him better than me...

2.5 and 3" is way to far. Your struts can't handle that much and you would be riding on the bumpstops, however 1.7 is fine paired with a good set of adjustable struts. Coilovers won't even drop the car 3".

I dropped my car about 3" if not more with my GC's front and rear. The stock suspension left a crapload of wheelgap, but my new setup leaves like maybe an " of gap.

MAZDA STOP MAKING CARS WITH HUGE WHEEL WELLS LOL.

how would that even work that much of a drop driving anywhere would be hard, my crash bar is lol 4" off the ground, yours must be like 1 or 2 "

my buddy just the other day in his SVT contour ripped off his oil pan on a stupid bump in teh road cause his car was lowered to much :freak:

car rides nice and firm, doesn't bottom out unless there is 4 ppl in car. I had it WAY low before, where there was no wheelgap (with stock 15's) but it bottomed out way too much and was wearing the tires fast as a mofo. So I raised it about an " in the front and .5" in rear to prevent wearing out the suspension, tires and scraping all the time.

You have to get the right struts...that is key.

Are you done? Thats a old pic of my car with the hyperco race suspension on it. It was lowered about 1.5" on top of that drop once I got my GC's.

Why don't you take a tape measurer, measure the stock wheelgap VS your current wheelgap. I have and there is like a 3" wheelgap, at least on my stock suspension.

a 3 inch drop will probably ruin your suspension geometry but im sure you dont care about handling if all you want to do is slam you mx3
