Strut Tower Bar and KLZE MS8 IM
Me and C-MX-DA3 both found out the hard way that my corksport and his ractive bar dont fit anymore with our KLZE's and the Curved-Neck Intake Manifold.
-Is there any know way to get it to fit?
-Has anyone gotten one to fit?

Re: Strut Tower Bar and KLZE MS8 IM
yes..it has been accomplished. You can remove the strut bar brackets and add washers to the bolts sticking up until it sits high enough to clear th IM. it wouldn't hurt to JB weld the washers to the brackets after to add some extra rigidity

you could bend the brackets as well...I've heard of that before too....probably not the best idea in the world though
I can't be certain how well the bar will perform after so just try and see. There's a dude on cardomain who did it...somewhere
[ August 06, 2003: Message edited by: Darren Hyderman ]

Re: Strut Tower Bar and KLZE MS8 IM
well I have seen an MX3 with a MS8 and strut bar. All I can think of is longer studs or some other modification to the bar itself

Re: Strut Tower Bar and KLZE MS8 IM
I bet the Ractive one would fit. I'll be a nice guy and trade you straight up my ractive bar for your corksport bar
. That should fix this problem nicely.

Re: Strut Tower Bar and KLZE MS8 IM
i just installed my strut bar yesterday, so heres what i did: i set the bar on top of the existing bolts and i got some used bolts off an mx3 from the junk yard, and just bolted the bars, the bar is sitting right on the I.M, i dont know if this is bad, but it works. ( this for people who have mellenia manifold w/ klze)

Re: Strut Tower Bar and KLZE MS8 IM
K, here is my bar trying to fit on my KLZE w/MS8 IM
(BTW, there are my first pics i;ve taken of my KLZE)
First Pic: Bar Just Barely Getting onto the Bolts, butnot low enough to get a nut on
http://www.ndspdse.net/klze-bar2.jpg
Second Pic: Bar Not Capable of getting onto the bolts
http://www.ndspdse.net/klze-bar3.jpg
Third Pic: Bar Hitting the Intake Manifold
http://www.ndspdse.net/klze-bar4.jpg
Fouth Pic: The nut on the top of the IM actually touches the hood's padding, and riped into it when it torques back
http://www.ndspdse.net/klze-bar5.jpg
Fifth Pic: Hood padding residue from the IM torque-scrapping (its teh hard to see yellow residue)
http://www.ndspdse.net/klze-bar1.jpg
Even if i could get it on, i dont wanna have my IM constantly scrapping into my strut tower bar, it'll proraply weaken it up bad. And even worse is that i wanna get thermal spacers before the end of the summer, but only once i get this strut towr bar problem figured out.
[ August 12, 2003: Message edited by: Nd4SpdSe ]
