My Mx-3 is in the middle of a KL-ZE install at the moment. While I have the shafts out, I am going to replace one half shaft, the rusted calipers, Rotors and now the Struts. If only my wife new how much I spent so far ;) ...=Divorce.
Well, I am all about doing it right, so I ask your advice.
I want a soft kidney friendly ride. I want a smoother better ride then stock. I am concerned that I may have wheel hop with the new KLZE, so I have replaced the front and rear engine mounts.
I have 18 inch rota subzeros w/ 215/35/R18 PIRELLI P7000's on it now(to aid in traction). I am not lowering it at all. I have priced the group buys and tirerack.com. Again, I am looking for a smoothest softest ride.
I havent even been thru struts 101 so be kind.
KONI quoted $580.08 shipped to my door ...(shop going to do the cuting and modding add $130.00
TOKICO quoted $332.68 shipped groupbuycenter
KYB GR-2 quoted $226.16 shipped tirerack.com
GAS_RYDER $455.96 autozone.com
E-Spec KYB $449.73 shipped corksport
Monroe Sensa-Trac $385.29 Shipped
Are the Tokico worth 106.52 More that KYB GR-2? I heard that the Tokico is a much nicer strut, but the KYB GR-2 are softer?
Thanks for your help

You want a soft ride and your running 18" wheels with 35 series tires? Good luck.
The ZX2 struts are a lot cheaper and would work fine.

I read that they are Tokico brand and zytariuk quoted in his install instructions that they are "a very firm ride". hmmmm

Your never going to get softer than stock, unless you put pillows into your struts. LOL :p

Ya, I’ve got em' paired with Suspension Techniques lowering springs. It's a bumpier ride that stock springs /w stock struts, but it's a much softer ride than my friends DropZone coilovers at 2.5", which is a noticeably rougher ride than mine.
If money was not an issue, i would have got Koni Inserts instead of my current ZX2's. Don't get me wrong though, im happier than a pig in **** with my current setup :) .

Dude get the Mazdaspeed adjustable struts if you've got the cash. I've never heard of anyone trying them but i am very curious as to how they will turn out. Id imagine they would run pretty soft in the softest setting??
