I wanted to get some spring set at a speedshop for 400 installed and they would only drop my car 1.5"... first off is it worth it? Will they look "slammed" or if i got my hands on some coilovers... and only dropped them down 2" can i just use stock struts after adjusting them for so i won't bottom out? I am not very familiar with springs/shocks so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.<p>Reed

ride height isn't the direct reason for needing better struts. Spring rate is. With ANY performance upgrade, you should get struts.

Dropping your car a messily 1.5 inches will NOT even come close to making your Mx-3 looked 'slammed'. Generally slammed cars ride about 2 inches of the ground...

will it even look good do you think? I mean 400 bucks is a lot to spend for it to look almost stock when i am done wiht it... any suggestions?

Yes. A 1.5 inch drop on an Mx-3 will make it look lowered, but it won't be slammed. If you want it slammed either..<p>a) Cut your springs (Just don't race with this option)
b) Buy coilovers

Ha, thanks for the suggestion, but I want it to be safe. What would be a good price for lowering springs/labor/install... i know it will just be a ballpark guess, i just don't want to be taken.

do it yourself.

There is nothing unsafe when you cut you're springs bud. It's insane how many people I know that are driving on cut coils and NOT ONE OF THEM has had any problems. However, the coils must be cut a certain way...
