I got a friend that is looking up info for upgrading the turbo system on the stock 1988 323 GTX AWD vehicle.
He was wondering if there was a tubular manifold with an external wastegate flange he could use - aftermarket or from another vehicle?
Could he can get one for the miata. Will that work?

i don't think the miata manifold will work...if i remember correctly it is because the manifold goes upward instead of downward. so the turbo would be going through the hood of your car.

he can have a log style manifold made pretty cheaply, which can accomodate an external gate.

hey guys thanks for the info other than the turbo going up will the miata manifold bolt on to the head he can cut the piping off and flip it around so the turbo is going down instead of up.

i think with the way the runners are made, you might have clearance issues with the radiator. it's best to just have a log style manifold. they might not look as great, but performance wise, they're just fine.
