Should I retard the timing?

Post by Franko »

I am believing the knock signal on my SAFC 2 less and less. Sometimes the number is just going haywire for no reason and other times it is at 0. I was on the highway last night and the whole time it was at 0, Then when I recalled the max for everything apparently the knock went to 192!!!!! I dont believe it! If I had a knock that big it would feel like the front end fell out of the car and the engine rolled down the highway.. I heard nothing, no change in power or response. The number must have come up so fast that I couldent even see it. I am using the mx-3 ecu with the bpt so it dosent have this knock signal wire going into it. It is just going right to the apexi. I know that the stock bpt computer would retard the timing if it sensed knock but since that is in japan somewhere jammed underneith the low end of Yin Changs couch, there will be no electronic timing retard. Should I retard it manually just a little bit? I dont hear any knock.. the engine seems fine. Any suggestions?
