Cams without boost?

If I embark on a BP build I'm planning for over the winter, I'd like to build for turbo charging. The problem is that I'm not sure I'l have to plan the swap during my vacation time next summer, and I may not have the engine complete with a turbo setup by that time. I know rods and pistons won't make much of a difference in the meantime (except for running lower compression), they would just make for a stronger bottome end.
So my concern and question is...If I build the engine with turbo profile cams without being turbo charged, what effect would it have on the engine, emmisions, and mileage?

Mileage would likely still be surpsingly okay but performance is another issue. Turbo cams tend to have the exsaust open for a long period of time and given the pressure diffrences would liekly leave a heavy amount of exsaust in the combustion chamber.

If anything raise the compression of the motor to the 9's and tune it well its amazing what good fuel can do.

I understand what you're saying, but would you mind expanding a bit on 'pressure' differences?
A turbo does put backpressure on the exhaust doesn't it?

Also, the best fuel I've seen up here (pump) is 93 (I think 94 too).

ya the most we can get is 94 here in ontario at sunoco i heard rumors that we would be getting a higher octane but who knows.

Haha, after the last post I went out to Sunoco to fill up cause I wasn't sure of the octane but I know they're higher than any other station.
I find that if I have any problems with the idle, etc. that if I top it up on 94 with a bottle of injector/system cleaner and take it for a 'spirited' run, my car runs a hell of a lot better.
