it mounts upside down since it's for a miata, which could create problems with the hood. also, not a fan of the location of the wastegate. same style, but better design IMO, is etd's manifold

Plus a better reputation. Any company that is able to build the highest hp Miata in North America, Fastest Miata in North America and the Quickest Miata in Canada deserves to be paid attention to. These guys know their stuff. Considering what they have done for Marc, I would trust them with my car (just so happens they will be doing some work for me in the future).

i was thinking of getting a etd manifold but this one is almost the same and alot cheaper
and the wastegate is in the same spot as the etd one

etd's is closer to the collector. a couple problems with it though is that the turbo would hit the radiator, and the wastegate and possibly the turbo will cause problems closing the hood.

i'm gonna call up edt tomorrow to see if it will fit

and i'm gonna use an egt so it should be mounted where the wastegate is now cause that cyl get the least air right?( i have a gtr intake manifold so most of the cyls egts should be close)

they're going to tell you that it might fit because of the same head design, but they can't promise that it will. and since it's not made for our car, they won't accept returns.

what you can do...is possiblly see if they would be willing to offer you a return or refund policy for you to be the test dummy and see if it would fit on a mx-3. if it does, use this point, you then can add to the list that it will work on the mx-3 with the bp motor...possiblly increasing revenue.

i called etd and they said it prob would fit
and with a large t3/t4 the turbo is about 2 inches below the top of the valve cover(so i prob will clear the hood

and i'm to to sure about if it will hit the rad but there looks like to be alot of room

i'm gonna get the mainfold from SSAUTOCHROME.COM and let everyone how it goes :2thumbsup:

why didnt you just ask for dimensions? alot of money to be experimenting with.

the wastegate mounts higher up than the turbo, and is the real threat to hood clearance..the turbo is just a possibility.

I can see a BIG problem with boost creep with that manifold, it will only be venting exhaust from 1 cylinder while the other three will still be pumping exhaust past the turbo wheel.

It will be ok for low boost but if you are pumping alot of power then the boost will creep up.

Wow.. Just decided to visit the MX-3.com website and I see my name.. I used to have an MX-3 and still miss it. I did want to purchase another one, but could not find one within my budget for a daily driver (Still have my 460+hp Miata and Dodge Dakota) so I purchased a 1991 Ford Escort GT with a BP engine!!

Anyways... The Mazda Miata manifold which ETD racing makes has the collector on one runner due to space in the Miata engine bay. While it may not be perfect, I personally have used it on my friends TEC3, T3/T4, Tial WG Miata upto 15psi with no boost control problems.

Now... Will it fit a BP in a Pro, MX3 or EGT? I dunno :)

But I bet my Manifold will, or if it does not, it will be really close :) Here is a pic of my manifold, the turbo sits on the underside..

I hope to be taking my manifold and turbo off my car in January as I start some work for 2004. I might be willing to visit someone in the Toronto area and test fit my manifold on their car. This would involve the car been ready with the header and everything off the car. My manifold was a one off, but can be jigged up and mass produced if needed. I might be able to bring a Miata manifold also with a large T3/T4 for fitting also.
It must also have the BP engine in it :)

My engine bay setup can be seen in the following PDF feature on the car..

http://www.jrponline.com/gallery/media/scn/kulak.pdf

If not, I did mention to John (Owner of ETD) that I would be willing to lend hm my Escort EGT for fitting in the summer. (Should be the same as Pro/MX3)

Hope this helps.. I hang out here a little more...
