the MX-3 1.8 V6 also uses the G25M-R, but they would be harder to come by.

Hrmmm, I see an AWD ZE MX-3 in the near future :D

The bell housing is not the same.. You'll have to build a matching bracket, or something to put them too together.

For a AWD Mx-3, you'll need a gaz tank too, froma 323/Protege AWD. I don't know if they are interchangeable. The gaz tank is right in the way! And you'll have to change the exhaust line, the small frame wasn't plan for AWD application.. That's my thought after lying 4 hours under the car one day, and doing nothing.. ;)

Oh, and the weight distribution is not good for AWD application..

67 percent on the front, and 33 percent on the rear wheel..

You'll need at least 55% on the rear wheel to truely have a benefit. Imagine you'll have to plan a lot of weight transfert.. :| That could be rough..

I would suggest though, if you got that way, mod a rear end of a Miata to use the AWD application.. Why? You want the rear part to move, and have about the same characteristic of the Mx.. I'll go with a M1 rear end.. There is a reason why the Miata is the Mx-5, and our car.. the Mx-3..

and you know this because?
why would the bellhousings be different if the V6 1.8 uses a G25M-R and the 1.8L 4CYL uses a G25M-R?
thanks

He is right they are different. They are the same internals and everything but the bell housings arent the same and it wont bolt right up.

A local Mx-3'er i know had a LSD when he had his first KLZE (hes on his 4th  ) He said the axels fit fine. No need for custom jobbies. I'll get him to post on this though, cause what ive just told you is all i know about it.

Well, the tell the truth, yes the internal or the same between the Protege LX (BP block) tranny, and a V6 tranny. Both, they are NOT THE SAME CODE!

That was a mistake some time ago, I never bother about saying a thing.

But the real code of the tranny is G15m-R for the BP block.

About LSD, I had a discussion with someone from Brazil. He got the 4 cylinders Mx, DOHC, with LSD on his F25M-R tranny.. So yeah, there is a LSD somewhere for our car. We discuss why we had differences, and come to the conclusion, his MX is not for the market of America, but for the one in Europe.

i've heard that between the 2 trannys the only difference is the bellhousing so maybe that can be swaped so we can run that on our bps(or b6's)
Gro Harlem might know some info on the differences of the trannys cause he had a prolx and now has a v6 mx-3

i'm gonna look on the protege boards to see if anyone has done the swap

which one can stand more power? I heard that at 300 hp the g25 brokes. I am still compiling some info about the breaking point, and as far as I know it´s a support from one shaft, that breaks causing misalignement of both shafts and blowing up.

all I want to know is what trans you have in your 1.8L BP or BPT swap, thats why I even gave the ID numbers, which car they came from does not matter to me, if the bell housings are different then I will swap them its that simple.

this is how miss information gets started "I heard this, I heard that" if you know the type of trans you have in your swap then please post it for others to learn by.

thanks.
