What´s the best way to disable EGR?

Post by BATTOSAI »

I think that disabling the EGR would be great on a Turbocharged engine, as when it´s open, the exhaust backpressure spinning the turbine decreases for sure! I heard about bolting a plate on the exhaust manifold (Kl-ze style) and leaving all the system untouched, but I don´t know if it would cause any CEL. Any other suggestion?

You may 3 things:
-put a dime in between the gas recirculation conduct. This will block the gas passage and the EGR still fonctional. No cell.
-Install ZE ecu. No need to hook the EGR anymore.
-or like me buy a stand alone fuel management.
The first above is the cheapest way to do the mod.
But, you know the EGR is shutting off at 75% TB opening? :shrug:

yes, but with in my turbo I had to put the turbo quite far, what results on a laggy turbo boost response! I think that it may help a bit!

When an mx-3 is at wide open throttle, doesn't the EGR automatically shut off?

TPS = Throttle Position Sensor
EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation
