Test pipe

Hey guys, anyone running test pipe instead of their cat, was it easy to install, power gains? legal on road? loud? post some feedback, im looking to install one on my k8

Of course it's not legal.
There is a bolt-in style going on Ebay right now.. Biggest prob you will probably have with that is if an old bolt snaps or somthing. Your engine will be a little louder/more drone-y/more raspy without a catylitic converter as well.

Looking at dyno "results" on PTalk, on 2.5L's, I'd say it's not worth messing with unless you're looking for a cheap alternative to replacing a bad cat - and don't mind the difference in noise. (or maybe if you're highly tuned it might be worth it, performance wise)

Your better off gutting your CAT instead of useing a test pipe, its cheaper and retains the "legal" look, but will not pass emissions.

hollowing out the cat will seriously ruin the airflow...
either run a straight through pipe or a highflow cat...

I sure hope you didn't think I ment "Keep the hollowed CAT hooked up" do you. You exaust would smell awful, like it was flooded.
