[edit] Full Details of the GB are posted here:http://www.mx-3.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=41041

Please let me know if I missed anything or have any questions. Technical questions will be answered by Perry. Thanks.

Please start reading from Page 7 of this thread for current discussion.
[/edit]

Some of the previous discussion could be found here: LINK . As there are more than few people are interested in the seat re-uphostery kits, we will continue discussion in this thread. For now, we are talking about 92-93 style stock front seat kits. If there is enough interest in the 94+ style seats, those may be done too. Please post your thoughts, ideas and wishes here.

Just to address a few previous conversations:

Will, I talked to Perry and yes, seats could be done in a faux fur - sheepskin. But, it's flammable and is a potential liability. The other thing, is that beacuse it is a thick material, it does not show much of a shape and thus is useless to do as a seat re-upholstery kit. You are much better with just faux sheepskin seat covers. Are you sure, you do not want to choose a different material like Vinyl/CF Vinyl (see below).

I don't want vinyl, leather or tweed. I want a velvety type of fabric. I forgot the exact name, but this guy I know who upholsters seats had a couple of brands with this style fabric for car upholstering.

btw, i wanna get my seats done in black / charcoal gray too. (center being charcoal, sides being black).
Gro, check the picture below and let me know if this is what you meant:

This is artificial microfibre suede. Also comes in non-perforated of course. It has been suggested to me that to do full seats in this kind of a material would be a mistake, as it gets damaged easily. Water, dirt, juice, coffee will damage. You really only wish to do accents in suede/fake suede.

As I have mentioned before, CF Vinyl is a really good durable material, as a regular Vinyl is as well. One of the great combinations that we are lookng at is this:

This is a leather look-a-like Vinyl with CF Vinyl that could be used as an insert.

It would be great to get people's opinions on this combination. Thanks.

I'm very interested in the front seats AND the rear seats. Black leather with Blaze Red Leather insert. Or perhaps vinyl? Really not sure what material I'd like. Will red leather smudge off onto my clothes?

Hopefully, this will delay a month or so, as it's christmas and I am not rich at the moment! :)

that fabric looks more like leather to me..that is nothing like i'm thinking.

I"m thinking of a more plush fabric, something more similar to the stock fabric on the 94+ seats, soft, yet durable. not the crappy denim-style crap that came on the 92-93 style seats

I would love to purchase one of these kits if they aren't to complicated, is it possible to get C/F vinyl on the outsides, and blaze red vinyl for the inside? Will the C/F vinyl look really close to the C/F vinyl from the other group buy for the shifter boots? :froggie_red:

Depends on what you want. I got the "Mazdaspeed" and "MS" digitized, that was the most expense, embroidery itself is not that expensive. Depends on size, etc. I think it was within C$100 for all four that I have.

Leather or Vinyl, are professional grade and will not transfer onto your clothes. Vinyl will definitely be cheaper and there is some that looks exactly like leather.

The GB if it will happen, will not be until the new year and not until all the details are worked out, so do not worry.

I don't want sheep skin. Like you say, I could buy seat covers like that. I was thinking something towards like bear/mink fur. something like that, black used as an insert. Anyways, since nothing like that is available, I am wondering about velour? I know alot of upolstery shops used to use it to redo seats, but I'm not sure about it anymore. I would love a carbon fibre(black) seat with a velour(also black) center inset. that would be cool, also if lime green stitching and embroidery could be added to match the shifter and e-brake... let me know prices as you know more Taras.

Thx, Will
