Take a rubber mallet and tap it on from the front.

If you dont have a rubber mallet, then take a piece of wood and put it between a regular hammer and the SRD Ebrake.

Thats what I did, and wht I am sure mostpeople have done as well.

To get it off in the future, you can either twist it off with your hand or tap it off using the wood trick (except from the backside)

Yeah, Mine did that too-- the threaded hole on the button was a tad bit too big. I can't remember how I got mine to stay on-- but it eventually did.

I know this is an old post..........but....

I am trying to install the srd hand brake i just got..along with my custom ebrake boot from the GB.

I'm having a difficult time, i cant seem to get anything to work. :x

Currently, I have the e-brake handle out of the car and sitting in my house. The whole thing is taken apart and I can't get it back together. The "rod" peice that the black plastic button is threaded onto is out of the e-brake housing, as well as the spring.

What I cant do, is figure out how to get the rod back in place, to work...with the spring and the new srd polished button????

Well, at least my cars parked on a flat surface...until i can get this put back together. If any of what I said makes sense, I'd appreciate anyones help ...thanks everyone :D
