Gaps on my new clear signals (pic)

Post by TekPmp »

I just bought these signal lights from procarparts.com and there are some large gaps between the lenses and the housing. Im just wondering if anyone else that bought clear signals experienced the same. If so what did you use to seal the gaps with? I cant really tell if these gaps will cause a problem with my lenses down the line.

Yup, same here. Was kinda irritated about it til I pulled the factory stock orange ones and saw they also had a similar gap at the ends. Been debating about adding sealant before install. Looks like the reflector area is sealed against the lens surface(both on stock & clear aftermarkets) by a bead of sealant that is inset from the outer edge of the lens. My concern tho is that even if the reflector space is already adequately sealed, that gap near the edges will allow dirt to deposit over time and make the clear lenses look dirty. My orange ones seem to have some dirty deposits behind edges so guess additional sealant makes sense.

I just bought the lenses from corksport, just fill the gaps with silicone like Gregory said. That's what I did, filled em almost to the edge. Wasn't takin any chance after all the hassle I had with my altezzas. Once you get some moisture in there it can be a pain to get rid of all of it so make sure they're sealed good and tight before you use em.

Yea, there is a circular cutout that you can just push in, does anyone know what those smaller light locations are for? ...or what they can be used for?

THey will turn nice and mossy green over time. Make sure when you seal, also seal around the mounting screw at the front, ot dab a bit onto it when you are putting it in, this way you eleiminate a direct way for the water to get in there (past the screw).
