ok, when i got the car there was oxidation on the roof, and i was wondering what i needed to do it get it off, i'd rather not have to pay somebody to buff it out if theirs an easier way to get rid of it... anyways

buy some paint cleaner (step 1). It removes oxidation and most of the surface scratches.

Then you wanna get some car polish (step 2) to buff the paint to a nice shine

Finally, coat it with some wax to protect it (step 3).

Use a terry cloth, or something that isn't too abrasive to apply the cleaner, polish and wax. you will have to rub pretty hard to get heavy oxidation off.

I haven't had much luck using an orbital buffer on heavy stuff. I DO use a buffer now, but thats after I polished my car by hand, removing 9 years of crap off the finish. once you get the heavy stuff off, using a buffer is MUCh faster to get 6-12 months of crap off, as long as you keep up with polishing ever 12 months or so, and waxing every 6
