would this interior look right?

ok so im planning to just have the full front dash (black), center console area, power door panels, a-pillars and headliner. Then i want to put two front seats (either red or black recaros, sold my other ones for more than i got them) and remove the carpet entirely. I also want to remove the rear seat and panels and trunk carpet and trunk panels completely. then a black roll-cage that goes from trunk to roof to front, but not too extreme of a rollcage. do you think that would look pretty good? reason is i'm not having much luck finishing the interior in the back and figured if it could look pretty good with the whole 'race' look of the gutted interior, and still the comfort up front, i'd midas well do that.

I don't see how a gutted look would look good... If it looked better then stock I imagine car companies would just save the money and not put in the interior pieces... just my opinion.

I like the role cage and the blacked out interior, but I think you should atleast leave some carpet in there. I dont think it would look to great with out it.

well my goal isn't really to make it look better than stock. my car isn't a daily driver anymore actually. im trying to do some weight reduction, and still have a driver and passenger seat and if it can have a nice racey look, then i might go for it. black interior parts are hard to come by for our cars now.

mx3tt, you mean carpeting on the floor? or the sides where the frame are showing?

personally, put some sort of carpet in the car. I understand the idea of weight reduction, but at least try to keep the carpet up front. I would go with grey. Get rid of the back seats and possibly passenger seat.(if your gonna be racing, you probably won't have a passenger anyway) But I would keep carpet on the floor up front.

i wish it were that simple. the dilmena is, im planning to use the car a few times when i have a passenger, so rear seats are going already, but front are staying. also would a the carpet match then with no rear seats, panels, or trunk panels/carpet?

not 100% sure, but i would think you could mount a small bar between the seat mounts and wrap the carpet around it and staple the carpet to itself. Would be kinda funky, but no one would see it under the seats anyway.

If you're looking to start weight reductions head to www.mazdamaniac.com and check out the links. There is one guy on there that has thought of/tried every possible weight reduction for the mx3. It actually sounds like he's made it his life goal! lol :2thumbsup:

Well if you still haven't gone to this guys site then get there! lol Go to Jeff's site www.mazdamaniac.com and hit links. Then find this guy "The MX-3 GSR (Luc St. Pierre)". When on his site, go to GSR Project...then scoll down to MISC and at the very botton You'll see "Weight reduction program"...he has thought of almost every way to reduce weight! Inside and out. Good luck, keep us updated!
