Well, I am the ONLY one to have done this so far to an MX-3...

I didnt paint the inside of the lens, but sprayed the outside & then put 3 coats of Automotive Clearcoat on them.

Heres a pic:

Heres a link to the rest of them...

Do yourself a favor though, only put one coat of the candy red on.. I put 3 light coats, but I should have stopped.

They still look nice, but I think they looked better after the 1st coat... You may want to do 2 just because.

And, If you can find a way to mask off the back-up lights, then do it, but I kinda wanted the smooth clear red look. And, If you do one coat, the White will still show thru and you will be fine.

i think those 3 coats look pretty good atlantamx3... but that reverse light issue, i think, is what turns a lot of people away from doing this mod.

I did it, and it came out awesome. I put one in the oven for about 2 minutes on 300 degress, Pulled it out, used screw drivers to pop the lens off, cleaned the housing with alcohol, masked the individual light lens', then painted about 5 coats of paint and 3 of clear coat. Only having one issue so far...the factory adhesive isnt much use after you break it loose, but what i did was put it back into the oven when i was done to soften it up, then squeezed the lens back on as much as i could. I'm going to pick some sort of glue and use it when i get around to it.

IT's easy to mask off the lens', including the reverse lamp. Just have some masking tape and an exact o knife to cut the tape and press it firmly to the lamp.

Have anyone tried to put a tint film on altezzas like they do on windows?

I think that would look pretty good and very easy to pull out...
