Citrus and water I've been told works, although I have not tried it myself yet. I was also wondering what good products are out there, I'm going to clean it in the spring time.

Buddy, take it to a professional detailer, cleaner. It might cost you 50CDN$ but it will look like brand new. I used to have an IS300 and since the car was from Quebec and i bought it in an auction it was damn dirty like you couldnt believe. I spent 100$ and they cleaned my entire car like brand new, from the engine bay, to the carpet, dashboard, cupholders, trunk, rims, I mean everything. But you wont need all this and an engine clean should cost you around 30-50 max. :D
You will see what i said when you get it washed. :p

PRIME LIME is the ultimate citrus cleaner in Canada IMO.
like $20 for a 2liter bottle. smels good enough to drink (don't) but packs a punch.
disolves chewing gum (literally) out of carpet, seperates grease and oil and breaks it down to water-like form.
I use it everything

engine cleaner, tooth brush tight spaces, protect your battery and electronics. let it soak good, rinse. after it dries treat rubber hoses with rubber treatment and it will look amazing and protect ur rubber too.

Or just take the battery out while you're doing all the work, but make sure to protect the cables and the intake from getting too much crud in it.. I used the "GUNK" engine degreaser/cleaner and it worked alright i guess, nothing amazing, but i only paid $2.99usd for a huge spray can

Do like me instead. Buy a cleaning tub and take your engine apart ;)

You can use Dunk from Canadian tires. COst 20$ for 4L, you need 3 to fill up the Big Red tub so the pump can work well.

You use a hard brush and each parts comes out like band new. The tub is 100$ at canadian tire too. That stuff also work well with a brush if you do not want to take everything apart. Its commercial parts cleaner so it even cleaned used pistons and removed all the carbon on that... try to beat that!
