Hey everyone,
I'm looking into having my intake manifold and valve cover custom powdercoated with some pretty intense designs... which I would rather not reveal until I get your opinions on pricing.
I was quoted at $225usd for the IM and VC both custom powdercoated by an artist... and more elaborate designs went up to $250, and then a VERY elaborate and detailed design at $300usd.
I'm sure I would opt for the $225 designs or the $250, depending on which design I like best... However, my question to everyone is, is this a ridiculous price to pay or is this reasonable for all of the prepwork, design and finishing that will go into this custom job...
If I could get a few informed opinion asap, that would be VERY helpful!!!

we would really need to know what design you have planned for the powdercoat to give a good estimate/opinion. ;)

If your design is intricate and you want it to be very smooth and polished with a perfect surface it sounds like a reasonable price for both valve covers and the intake manifold.

powder coat holds very well with heat of engine, etc. also on suspension parts. If you powdercoat something, you better be sure thats the color/powdercoat you wanted or after its cured you'll be having hard time getting it off, if you could at all...lol

some of the lighter colors...yellow, white, etc. tend to have problems with heat. it's not really the color but the clear coat that's put on top of it. it sometimes gets a light tint to it and darkens. the lighter colors show this more than the darker ones.

I had powdercoating priced for my VC and they told me $100 for just one VC. I would say that is a good price that you were quoted for a VC and the intake....WITH custom designs.
