I looked up this and nothing, when you take the fabric off your door panels is it a a good surface to paint on? or is putting fabric on the only way?

if you remove the fabric carefully, yes the surface undernieth is paintable. It is porous though. That's all I did. I removed the fabric and painted. Worked better than I thought it would. I plan on redoing it with resin eventually but if yer on a budget and short on time than this method is the fastest and cheapest I can think of. You can see pics of the results on link below.

If you use a rag or cotton balls with acetone the fabric will peel off with little resistance. Moisten the fabric with the acitone (it will break down the glue)and gradually start peeling.....if it resists to much dab on a little more acetone.

I don't know what to tell you. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. I don't know how many coats...I used 1 full 140g can to do both doors. The paint soaks in a little so the 1st 2 or 3 coats don't really count. I had no trouble with runs or anything....I just sprayed evenly and the door absorbed it like a sponge. And my results speaks for itself.
