new paint job

Post by Guest »

hey ive searched this topic a couple times and this hasnt really been discusted from what i saw, ok i have not alot of money. I want my car painted and I also have a body kit to be painted. Heres my question, im painting it same color and the paint on there now isnt too bad, a few chips but nothing major, so can they just sand the clear coat touch it up and re-clearcoat it?<P>Thanks TIm Dawson

Sure it is possible to sand just the clearcoat, but the hard part would be to know when you got down the the colored basecoat without taking the paint off. And you do not have to take it to bare metal. All you need to do is kill the shine in the paint by wetsanding it (using progressivly finer paper).
