Yea a tooth brush will work good for certain areas that are harder to get in there and clean, I've used tooth brush on mine

....however my engine bay is still far from clean, I've only recently started cleaning the engine bay.

Start with engine degreaser. then a brush soap and water, watch the electronics!

I used STP foaming engine de-greaser for a lot of the clean up, then just used an old tooth brush on a lot of the smaller, harder to clean parts. and afterwards i stuck my shop vac in and arround it for a little bit, it was amazing how much road dust and crap it sucked out of there. Its not spotless, but it definately looks a lot better. It also helps to keep your filter from clogging up quick if it isnt sucking in as much road junk.
