polished valve cover

hey guys plz dont bash me for asking this but how do I polish my valve cover once its taken off? i want to give my engine a much cleaner look instead of just painting it i wanna polish it. what things do I need and how much are they? any info would be awesome thanks guys!

You're gonna want to start with a couple sheets of low grit sandpaper(100-200) and work your way up to a higher grit sandpaper, basically wet sandpaper(1500-2000). It'll take a while and will be kinda tricky getting into all the grooves and corners, a die grinder would help alot and cut back on time. Good Luck.

after a days worth of sanding whats the next step? i just need a little more info but thx for the help so far.

I polished mine... trust VisualXTC.... get them professionally done... it's not that much $$$ and saves you a HUGE amount of time!! By the way ... they do look sweet when they're done.. I accented mine with powdercoating around the emblem!!!

i had my two valve covers and my intake manifold done for about 300 cndn. you take them to a polishing shop look in the phone book.

Also chroming/plating shops do polishing as well..
