Are the 18 copper wires individually insulated? Just need a little more.

i spliced the 18-gauge. they have like 18 small wires that are in the same insulation, not individual. i want to know if i just use any 9 for the + and any 9 for the -? or is there some type of certain method?

That cable with 18 or so copper wires in it acts like just 1 wire. Multi-strand wires are (typicaly) cheaper to produce, and more flexable than a single solid wire.
Use ALL of the little copper wires to connect to an electrical junction. Use completly different wires for the positive and negative terminals.
Take into consideration the current runing through the wire. I wouldn't run more than a couple of amps through 18 gauge.
If you know someone who's wired up their car you might try talking them into working on yours, or helping you out. I've found it helpful.
