Engine Shampooing!

Hey all.....<P>I just wanted to know if there are any risks assocaited with getting your engine detailed. I mean like totally take out all that grease and dirt! Is it relatively safe geeting it done at some auto place?<P>I want to make my engine look like new again.<P>~DK

Your going to do it yourself, right? Get a can of whatever you choose engine cleaner. I think it soaks for 2 mins then you hose off. Best to do at one of those coin-op car washes so you can use high pressure hot water. Alot of those washes have engine de-greaser too.<P>Only risk is getting that cleaner on your paint (bad bad) and you need to cover alternator and probaly distributor area. Plastic bag or whatever works fine.
