a little problem with my rear brakes....help!!!
ok, in changin my rear break shoes, i first, end up striping one of my screws, ok no biggie i have sinks to get it out...well the god damn sinks didnt work at all so i just said screw this and drilled out the head. well the head is gone, so nothing should be hanging it up and the drum should come off right, nope. after beating on it for like an hour(just taps tryin to loosin it) it still doesnt budge.
so, i ask you guys should i comepletly drill out the screw, then try and get it of again...torch it off or try and get a jaw and slowly pull it off or what?? any help is appreciated and if it doesnt make sense ill re-write it so it does. thnx in advance.
i got a 90 pgt...but wish it was a mx-3 bp-t!

Not to overstate the obvious, but you dont have the e-brake applied, do you?
And if there is even a tiny bit of that screw head still there, you'll be amazed how strong it will hold the drum, are you 100% sure you drilled the entire head off the screws? If so, go around the circumference of the drum, from BEHIND, and give a few dozen taps with a light hammer, tapping the drum away from the spindle. Go around the drum as you do this, preferable 180 degrees apart, dont hit it in just one spot and dont beat on the back plate. I had to use the hammer to hit a small crowbar to get the proper angle on the drum. It may take a while but it will eventually come off. Mine took a while too, you'll get it sooner or later. Whatever you do dont get PO'd and start beating on it, you can screw up the bearings, drum, etc.

e-brake was off...i know that!!
i didnt repeadialy beat the piss outta it. i gave it some good wacks yes but always roatating where i hit it. im gonna just try and drill all the way through the screw and then with something un screw it. hopefully it works or im gonna take that one side to a shop and have them do it. but thats a last resort.
oh, and does anyone know if the e-brake locks one wheel or both?
thanx again.

Re: a little problem with my rear brakes....help!!!
I had to have my entire braking system pretty much replaced because it went to pot or was going to crap out on me before i even bought my MX-3. I had to have all 4 brakes replaced as well as the E-Brake cable, so it was a pretty hefty bill. But I noticed something bad with my breaks when my right rear brake locked up. I'm wanting to say that the E-brake controls both back brakes but if not that then i'd say the right one. It would make sense to lock the entire rear axel up, otherwise if one wheel locks up it'll cause the car to pull to the side or worse, spin out on wet conditions.
