Was sitting at the set of lights earlier today and this very strange, bizzare even, rattling noise started to come from the engine bay. I turned off my ac and the noise stopped, turned it back on it was back to normal.

Has anybody had something similar happen?

I attempted to replicate the problem when i got home but the it just would not do it.

Any ideas on what i should be looking for?

A new AC compressor.

That's how it starts. You still may have a ways to go before it completely dies. Mine went about a year before it siezed up one day.
