"24 VALVE DOHC" VC on a ZE?

Post by dewthis »

I'm about to buy an extra IM to be ported and the seller has sent mesome pics. In the pics the front valve cover has the "24 valve DOHC" on it. I have not seen a ZE with this valve cover on it before. I'm thinking its a A-spec motor. Have any of you seen a J-spec motor with this valve cover?
What do you guys think.

the KL-ZE with that VC comes from a Xedos 9, you can pull one from a millenia like i did

I looked at your car earlier before posting and I swear I did'nt see that VC. What is the number on your TB, it should be KL something. For example mine is KL68.
Thanks for the reply.

To my knowledge if it has that on the front of the valve cover the engine was built 97 or 98+

well, the way to tell is the little tube on the front, if it dont have it, its a 97+ motor, if it does its earlier, again that VC on mine didnt come on it, i put it on

it seems the eunos 800's / millenia have the "dohc 24-valve" on their valve covers. I saw a 95 millenia the other week at the yard and it had "dohc 24-valve" on the front valve cover with NO "mazda", weird.

The MS8's (at least my ms8 ze) had just "mazda" on their valve covers :-/

might be different from year-to-year

But if someone can be fooled into it being a ze that easily lots of people would be just switching valve covers...

This motor has the PVC tube on the front valve cover. Papa Roached, is that an A-Spec millenia IM?
