Yeah my car is sputtering bad, no power at all. It did this before but only used to sputter until 4000 rpm then it would break free. Now it sputters All of the time no matter what speed im going. When it first started sputtering, i got new plugs, wires, cap and rotor and that solved my problem till now (6 months later,) in which the sputtering is not going away. I know my valve cover gaskets are gone, but i want to preserve this engine for at least another 6 months till i get my new engine put in. Any suggestions on what could keep this engine going that isn't going to cost me much?

Re: sputtering like a mother
Well...my advice to you is, since you know your valve cover gasket is gone....replace it. Its super easy. The hardest part is going to be a little bracket on the back of the mani. About your problem tho, im not sure what to do since you already changes your plugs and wires.

Re: sputtering like a mother
I was thinking that oil in the spark plugs could be causing this? Its also shaking bad at idle.

Re: sputtering like a mother
mine was doing that the other day, and when i got home and lifted the hood, the coolant hose on the left side of the engine was sucked completely flat. i took the cap off and the hose puffed back up a little, then my dad poured about 3/4 of a gallon of watter into it. I took it to the shop and they said i had a bad intake gasket and that was causing the rough idle and the coolant flow problem...?
