Im about to buy a v6 mx3, the tag in the door is all rubbed out, is there any other way to find out the year?
And what about the rs, gs , gsr, and all that stuff, how do i tell what medel she is?

Well if it has a V6 its a GS.
GSR is a 2.5L swap.

Year should be on the registration.

In Australia we have a metal "compliance plate" mounted on the firewall that has the date of manufacture. Illegal to remove it or deface it.

you can also get a general idea of the year by looking at the dash. the design changed in 94 to a very "bubbly" design that looks a bit more modern.

It's in the VIN. Look it up on a Google search. I want to say it's the third or fourth charachter. I know 1st is country of manufacture, 2nd is manufacture company (i.e. Ford or Diamond Star).

J = Japan (1=US, 2=Canada,3=Mexico, etc)
M1 = Mazda
EC = Chassis code for MX-3 (AZ-3, Presso, 30X)
# # # = Option Codes (Engine,Transmission,Trim level, etc.)
9 = Check digit (for mathematical formula to check for invalid VIN #)
D = Year of manufacturing (N=92,P=93,R=94...W=98)
O = Manufacturing location
# # # # # # = Manufacturing sequence number
