i went to the tracks with my ze the other night. everytime i floored the gas, once i hit 6000 rpm it would bogg down and backfire. i would have to let out the case and then floor it again but at 6000 rpm it would happen again. my friend spectating said i had a lot of black smoke from my exaust. it only happened at 6000rpm and up. i adjusted my safc 2 to lean out the fuel mixture thinking it was to rich but it only helped out a little. could this be my timing or does anyone else have any suggestions. this never happened before an i assumed it must be timing cause i just serviced the water pump and timing belt. thanks for your help

is there a way to disable vris so that you've got max airflow at all times? or is it better for it to be on?

with the VIRS on it will give you better mid range power but with them off you will get a bit more up top but every thing i have seen says keep the VIRS there cause you will lose alot in 1/4 mile times and that means you dont gain anything

The VRIS ensures you get maximum airflow by tuning the induction tract to minimise inertia effect on the moving air.

Less inertia = More air into the cylinder

i had a similar problem. the car would stumble at about 5000 rpm and then it'd accel fine past that.

I replaced both O2 sensors, and now the car runs flawless.
