clutch bad?

Post by mxmaz »

i've been getting some chatter when engaging into first gear. Could the clutch be going bad or is it normal? I now have a kfze motor and will be swapping it in in the next couple weeks. Think I should maybe get a new clutch anyway?

oh..before u do anything... bleed your cluth..usually people mistake that shatering sound for a bad tranny or a clutch..when it was just the clutch slave cylinder having air.

You cut the clutch line. Then it will bleed.

You'll find the bleeder valve on the slave cylindar wich is bolted to the top of the tranny. Just connect a hose from the bleeder vavle to a catch can and some brake fluid. Fill the REAR resevior (the clutch uses brake fluid from the brake fluid resevior) of the brake fluid resevior.
1. Push clutch down
2. open bleeder vavle
3. close bleeder vavle before clutch pedal reaches the floor
4. Let clutch pedal up
5. repeat
do this utill you have cycled all the old brake fluid out of the rear resevoir
WATCH the brake fluid and make sure that you keep it from going empty, if it does you have to start completely over.
