1 week ago I bought a silver mx-3 gs 1995 with A/C.

The exterior is immaculate, interior is perfect...
the car had been rustproofed every year so no sign of rust :)

It's driving like a new car, the car have 227 000km.

There are 2 problems with the car, it's hard to start (you have to crank it 4-5sec to start even when the engine is warm). And when you are hard on the engine(it happen approx at 5500rpm(it don't happen every time, but offently)) the engine stall and won't start again, sometime it start with 10 sec of starter, sometime it can take like a min to start it, it really bug me :(
One of my friends told me that it could be the fuel pressure regulator

Other than that I really like the car and I'm happy to join the club :2thumbsup: :2thumbsup:

Has it had a recent standard tune-up especially including a replacement fuel filter? If not, I'd start there before looking at more complex causes... Even on a well kept looking ride, it's not unusual for some owners to ignore the fuel filter replacement interval. Next place to think about after that is the distributor, which is also apparently infamous for getting flaky and needing replacement on K8's. Several K8 owners on the UBB have reported similar symptoms that were disty related.

I had the same exact problem 2 years ago...ignitor coil ...IMO you need to change your disty...Your problem will become more frequant and one day your car will not start anymore

Yesterday it stalled when I tried to pass a kia rio, the engine was really hard to start again, it took me maybe 1min of starter to start it again...

Tomorrow I think that I'll start by replacing the fuel filter...

you can do that but i can assure you it won't change a thing..a fuel filter don't make your car stall but jerk...I'm 90% is what i said

before you get into check the dist, go to the fuel delivery system! fuel pump pre-filter see it`s conditions, then go to the fuel filter and replace it,it´s a must! and last do an ultrasonic clean & a flow check service to the fuel injectors, I had the same problem.

I'll put a vote in for the distributor as well.

Im gonna drop my vote into the fuel supply, not only the filter but pump aswell or even a brake in the line some where. Stalls at high RPM (not enough fuel to feed the hungry beast) doesnt start right away (need time to reprime the lines with fuel) ;) Just my asspect.
(In no way am I dissagreeing with the ignition poeple)

even in normal condition the car is always hard to start, it takes 5-6sec to start it...

I don't think that it spill gaz everywhere because it doesn't smell gaz at all(I know it because my old 323(hehehe still in the mazda family :D ) smelled the gaz a lot, it spilled gaz everywhere...)

My MX-3 died without any symptoms, yesterday i've purchased a ignition module, coil is OK, and we will see, K8 should start :)

PS. Don't check the coil with the resistance meter, or low voltage tester, even if the results are OK this means nothing. To test is the coil is OK you need to have few kV of the voltage on it to see if there is no "jumps" to the ground.
