The GTR is a SUPER rare car that had the BPT engine in it. 210 HP, light, hatchback, awesome car. Sold only in Japan (& Australia I think??).
Anyway-- its the BPT engine he is talking about.
Really just too much work to do the 4-cyl swap into the V-6. The KL-ZE gives about the same HP and you are probably NOT going to find a REAL GTR engine.
Too much hassle-- just do the KL-ZE.

yeah that was what i was thinking but then i wanted to swap in a already turboed engine. But saying as the ZE is a better swap then that is what i might go with. Given that i do swap in the ZE would it be possible to also modify the melleinia supercharger into the engine.

Basicly, if you have a 4cyl, its easy to swap in another 4cyl, while is you have a v6, its easy to swap in another v6, but a 4cyl to v6 or v6 to 4cyl will require you to pretty much replace everything under the hood. SO if you wanna do a GTR swap, get a 4cyl mx-3
The millenia supercharged engine is a miller cycle engine, and REQUIRES a supercharger for it to work properly, it ives the engine the performance of a 3.0L engine, with the fuel economy of a 2.0l engine...if the supercharger can be used on other than a KJ-ZEM, i don't know, but i doubt it.

i was just wondering about that because i am sick of looking at the back end of these pontiac grand am's and grand prix's....not to mention the v6 mustangs......i also own a mx-6 gt but that is a junker and its kinda not worth fixing up...if possible i would like the best possible info on the best motor swap.....

It's been discussed several times, and been "authoritatively" stated that the supercharger from a KJ cannot be bolted onto a KL. Can't remember the reason, but a search should find it.

The supercharger has yet to be disproven. I started a thread a while back. The people that said no always never had any first hand experience. Everyone heard it somewhere and its now become law, but it shouldn't be.

The 1.8 BP-ZET engines are far superior to the KL-ZE engine. Both the 323 GTR and GTAe were limited edition cars. Only 2000 GTR's and 500 GTAe's were ever produced. Sold in Europe, Austro-Asia and Japan only. I had a GTR motor last year, but unfortunately sold it and got a KLZE b/c I didn't have time to try to wire it up and get it to work in my GS.
If you want to swap a B-series 4cyl into your K-series MX3, you will have to swap out the entire engine harness, the power steering pump, the lower transmission crossmember, the passenger side engine mount bracket, and most likely have to fabricate some bracket locations for some sensors. The engine will bolt in, however, and the axles will bolt into the existing GS hubs without a problem, just be sure to use a G-series 4cylinder transmission from a Escort GT, or Protege LX or 4cyl probe or MX6, they all bolt straight up to the BPT block.
After bolting it in it'll be time to wire it. This will be the biggest issue of the entire swap. There are numerous sources you can get teh wiring diagrams from, but you will likely have to splice a lot more into your existing interior harness seeing how the BPT's have a 2 plug ECU and the MX3's have a 3 plug. you'll have to splice in the 2 plug connectors and tap into a few of the wires for the additional knock sensor and other turbo related crap.
It won't be easy, but in the end, it'll be worth it, and you'll have a much faster, more lightweight MX3 with more potential than any KL-ZE swap could ever give you.

Here's the thread on the KJ - it took me one minute to find, but I did have an idea about when it was posted:
KJ Thread.
It says the inlet ports are further apart than on a KL, so the inlet manifolds won't just bolt-on. I suppose you could fit the KJ heads, but then the bores may no match up..... Easier to consider fitting the whole KJ engine, but the ECU is ATX only.
