Is this the 195hp 2.5L?

Post by finchuck »

Is it easy to tell whether a particular 2.5L is the 195hp version?

Any possibility that you guys can tell whether this is the 195hp version?

Thats the curved neck eunos 800 / xedos 9 engine. Rated at 196hp and reaches its peak torque at a lower rpm due to having kl01 camshafts. (straight neck ze's have kl31 cams which are more agressive).

As long as it has no egr valve and upon opening the tb you should see a knife edged divider in the middle, that is the motor I have in my car and it works fine low end torque is never a problem :) . Cars looking good Gro(not to thread jack).

Ms8 is a mx-6 but anyways the kl31 cams just shift the power higher in the powerband, as the kl01 cams make it lower in the powerband, this has been discussed dozens of times by me personally so there is a lot of info you can search for :p

Yeah I know. I sold my MX-3 freshmen year of college, now I'll be a senior and I'm thinking about buying that KLZE MX. So that's why I've been gone so long. I never realized that I was member # 117, I didn't know that I came that early in the game.

Incorrect, the MS8 isn't remotely related, or a "twin" of the MX-6. The Japanese MX-6's are called "MX-6 Mystere". The MS8 looks like a slightly larger, upscale 626 sedan and came only in that body style.

I'm in the process of writing a page showing the different cars all of the K-series came in with pictures. Mainly b/c i'm so sick of people saying MS8's are MX-6 twins & eunos 800's are millenia twins (close, but not quite true either...the millenia's didn't exist back in early 93 when the eunos 800's were introduced).

Re-shaped and re-sized gearshift lever. Best driveability mod you can do!
Extra thick soundproofing in the boot (trunk) to quieten my stainless steel exhaust system :)

It means the intake manifold is either curved or straight. Straight comes with the KL-31 cams and curved comes with the KL-01 cams. The main problem for us is that the straight neck mani won't bolt up in our little cars without more modding than it's worth. That's why you either go with the curved from the start or buy a straight then a curved mani to swap onto it.

Yeah, the 800 and millenias are very closely related, but the earlier 800's that we get most of our curved neck engines from have a lot of differences over our USDM 95+ millenias. I still have yet to be able to find good pictures of a 93-94 eunos 800, only of the 98 model for my K-series FAQ.

like I said..."Good pictures". that first link is one i've never seen before, but the picture quality is low. I want at least 400x300 pics for the faq. The last link is the newer style eunos, not the older 93-94 i'm lokin for
