MX-3 Computer
MX-3 Computer
My daughter put the car into a flooded ditch. The nose of the car on the passengers side had water running over the top of the hood. Water also got into the car. I have not been able to get the car to run right since. I feel that the cars computer may have gotten water in it. How can I check to see if the computer is still good? The seat belts are also messed up. The passive restraint on the drivers side is in the forward position and the other one is back. With the key in the on position the belts act like they want to move but lock up. The control box under the drivers seat might have gotten wet also. Any ideas? thanks

It was there for about 90 min's. I was able to pull some codes yesterday, 08 & 10, so I guess the computer is alright. The car was only running for about 5 min's before it ended up in the water.

I don't know if the passive restraint is even controlled by the computer. But anyways, if the passive restraints are broken, there's a lifetime recall notice on them, so you can get them fixed free at a Mazda dealership.

Re: MX-3 Computer
I can start the car. The idle is a bit high. When I give it some gas it bogs down and will shut off. The codes that I got indicate a probelm with the air flow.

i did the same thing with mine in australia... except it wasnt for 90 minutes, i drove through a flash flood by accidnet, the puddle was big but didnt know it was that deep, few days later the engine started running eratic and revs were all over the place, my engine was water logged i think, also the intake had alot of water moisture in it which was really bad. So pretty sure it was electrical and mechanical combo.... water = bad
My friend and i took the engine out opened it all up in the sun for a few days and cleaned it all up and he double check the wiring/sensors, after a few days of sun tanning put it all in and it ran a alot better.... that being said a month later i swapped to a ZE

Re: MX-3 Computer
That's what I'd do. Take the distributor cap off, disasemble the intake in a few places, maybe disconnect some wire harnesses and spray the connectors with WD-40 or similar product to displace any water.Originally posted by DavidOS:
