Cold air intake question

I'm quite certain this has been discussed here before but here goes anyways. I was comparing photos of an MX3 V6 engine with an MX6 V6 engine and is there any logical reason why we couldn't use a cold air intake from an MX6 V6 on our cars? Now, before anybody mouths off about the MX6 being a 2.5L and the MX3 being a 1.8L, I'm well aware as I have now owned both. But looking at the both of them, the intakes are almost identical in shape and length. Any thoughts from anybody here about why this could or couldn't work? Has anybody here tried? Give me your thoughts.

I fitted an MX-6 PiperX induction kit to my mx-3 V6, that my friend had fitted to his mx6 previously.

It had to be modified slightly to fit, but works fine and is loads better than than the stock airbox.

they will fit, just a bit of cutting because their TB is in a different spot than ours

I believe that the only difference would be if the MX6 engine had a stright or curved neck intake manifold. Even as such it would just take some fitting. Should work just fine.
