It seems it is harder to find manual transmission ECU, so I am considering buying a automatic ECU. Did anyone fit a automatic ECU in a manual car? What does the work involve? In the end, will the car perform the same?

Umm...where do you guys get this info from?

I have had a KL36 ECU in my car for 7 months now with no problems. I drive a 93' GS 5-spd.

Only difference as far as I know with the KL36, is the built in circuitry for controlling the auto tranny. IF you dont' have an auto tranny that circuitry isn't used and doesn't affect anything

well I have a KL36 ECU on my ZE with a 5 speed.

Yah, you have to change alot to make it work. the Steering wheel has to be switched to a ZE one, as well as the fuel pump, VAF, rad fan, oil filter, you also have to change the brake pads to the ZE ones.

and the proper ECU number os KL-PQRESTYHGFRESFTYU730w28267349762528ok289782ujw78u2ui28978

curt I will not need all this stuff I was planning to buy a english-japanese dictionary and tape it on the ecu... easier!

I will add some info... the car is a 94 mx-6 m/t fully loaded. the question was if I pick up a kl36 ecu to make it work I simply plug it on my stock harness ?

the klze is la long neck without egr. while doing the swap I put the mx-6 distributor with integrated coil instead of the klze dist with separate coil.

now the klze run on the stock mx-6 ecu and with some tricks it idle like it should and there is no check engine light.

yes it plugs in! if you did some research you'd have found all this info already.

also, I would switch to the ZE disty, the heat from the ZE will cause your stock Disty to fail.

The stock disty is a know weak point and many people have hat to replace them.

Thanks to Gro, I am getting a ZE disty to solve my broken disty problem.
