does anyone know the weight of a K8 and a KLZE engine?
I want to know what the weightdifference is

my short block weighted in at 85lbs and each head at 25lbs, i just know that cuz they were all shipped.

They're all light. Me and 2 friends were lifting my KLDE up into trucks and into backyards easily. And I'm only like 190lbs and my friends were only 180lbs and 220lbs. And we lifted the handtruck that the engine was sitting on. And the DE and ZE pretty uch weigh the same. A K8 is pretty much the same weight too, no noticeable difference.

You're body weight has hardley nothing to do with how much you can lift. Hell, im a toothpick at 135lb...but can lift a full sized keg of beer ~165lb with ease.

I've seen it somewhere on this board that the KLZE weighs slightly less than the K8, because the cylinder bores are larger. You could argue that the pistons would weigh a bit more, but most people say there is little difference.

My KLZE weighed in at about 290 lbs with the manifolds attached, no tranny, but the flywheel was on there (twas from an auto car).
I doubt there is a difference in the weight of the K8 to the KL motors

bigger bore would equal more weight you need more iron to make a bigger cycle, bigger pistons more weight, thicker rods more weight,bigger crank more weight. chunkier IMfold more weight and heavier fly wheel more weight. dosnt sound lighter then the k8 to me there is atleast 25lb differents

I think part of the story is that the block (which has the same external dimensions) has less material because the bores are bigger. The extra weight of pistons, etc works in the other direction. Short of actually weighing both engines, it could go either way, but its unlikely to be more than a couple of cans of beans.

The KLZE and K8 are about the same weight. Complete with the intake manifold and everything except the flywheel and tranny, they weight around 400 LBS.
I have 3 that I brought down in my basement so I have a pretty good idea

The weight difference is small enough that you should worry more about how much gas you have in your tank then how much more or less the ZE weighs in at.

have you ever seen in the block. It hollow so water flows aroud the cylander to cool the motor bigger bore larger iron sleves less water space.
"The extra weight of pistons, etc works in the other direction" what dos that mean weight is weight and most of the weight is on rotating parts so in motion it will have an even bigger effect and use more power to turn it. There is a reason why people go with lighter rotating parts(piston,rods, flywheels) save power and beter throtle respons.
