other ticking sound?

ive read all about the lifters ticking and such...i have that problem. but just recently another ticking sound started up its really loud form the passenger side only when i step on the gas around 2000 rpm and above. could be an AC component. does the ac system only start working when i press the ac button. i had this problem on the k8 engine as well. Or could it be something else?
